Greetings Everyone - On Sunday we are going to kayak from Snells Beach - Dawson Road to Warkworth.

The river was the main link between the town of Warkworth and the rest of New Zealand. The historic Cement Works opened in 1884 beside the river and many scows and steamers used it to export the cement. The cement works was closed down some years ago and the ruins remain on the banks of the river behind what has become a marina.

Distance: Approx 2 hours paddling.
Difficulty: 2.5 on our 1-5 scale for day hikes.
Cost: $65 to hire a kayak with training. Plus $20 for car poolers

Book with Auckland Kayaks here:

Toilets: At the finish.
After Hike: Bridgehouse Lodge - 16 Elizabeth Street - Optional
High Tide: 12:26 - 3.2 meter tide.
