Greetings Everyone - On Sunday we are going to kayak from Cockle Bay to Whitford, via Wade Island, exploring the river and stopping at The Stables for food and refreshments afterwards.
Distance: Approx 2 hours paddling.
Difficulty: 2.5 on our 1-5 scale for day hikes.
Cost: $65 to hire a kayak with training. Plus $10 for car poolers

● PLEASE: No smoking, animals, children or guests.
● Important Notes:
Please wear a mask when doing the car shuttles. There are only 22 hire kayak places - If you leave payment too late you may be disappointed.
People with their own canoe - please go to Cockle Bay Reserve direct, offload your kayak and then drive to the Whitford Wharf for a car shuttle back to the start. Ruth will assist.
Drivers NOT coming to New World MUST meet at the Whitford Wharf for a car shuttle back to the start. Ruth will assist. The time to arrive is NO later than 08:30 - wait for Ruth.
● You may get muddy/wet feet at the start launching/exiting the kayak.
● You may bring your own Kayak.
● Read everything before your RSVP:
Read the Auckland Sea Kayak Cancellation Policy - basically if Auckland Sea Kayaks cancel you get a full refund - if you arrive late/sick etc. there is no refund.

All Hiking Aotearoa organisers work on a strictly voluntary basis and hold NO responsibility or liability for any injury, or loss suffered during the events organised. Each person who participates accepts responsibility for making their own determinations and for their own safety, conduct and well being; recognising that there are hazards in attending group and outdoor activities and agrees to participate solely at their own risk.

● Carpooling:
For those requiring a ride come to New World Victoria Park - Scotland Street and carpooling will be organised. Just come, don't put comments in the conversation section.
● Time Guideline:
- 08:00 - People with a Kayak to arrive at Cockle Bay Reserve - unload and drive to Whitford Wharf.
- 08:30 - Direct Drivers arrive at the Whitford Wharf and wait for Ruth.
- 08:15 - Car Poolers arrive at New World Victoria Park. Scotland St.
- 08:30 - We leave - New World
- 09:00 - Everyone arrives for the Safety briefing at Cockle Bay Reserve.
- 09:30 - Paddle up the river, checking out Wade Island.
- 11:24 - High Tide - Arrive Whitford Wharf (approx)
- 12:00 - Organise car pickup's from Cockle Bay Reserve.
- 12:30 - All arrive The Stables - (approx)
- 13:30 - Leave The Stables.
- 14:00 - Arrive back at the CBD
● Bring:
- Some light snacks
- Change of clothes
- Water bottle
- Footwear you are happy to get wet/muddy
- Clothes you are happy to wet (wool/poly prop) or wet suit.
- Sun and emergency rain protection
Auckland Sea Kayaks will Provide:
They give you all the specialist paddling gear including buoyancy aid, spray skirt, spray jacket, and a dry bag for your camera / extra kit.
● Notes:
- Follow the instructions at ALL TIMES of your team leader(s).
- Auckland Sea Kayaks will NOT be kayaking with us - this is an unguided event. We must ALL look after each other.
